Paintball Frequently Asked Questions...
The following questions are frequently asked by guests who are booked in or are thinking of playing Paintball.
Paintball is a competitive, non-contact sport played between two teams. The teams try to win games by achieving an objective, such as capturing a flag from the opponents base camp. Shooting members of the opposite team with a paint pellet, fired from a Paintball gun, eliminates them from a game and makes it easier to win.
Groups are welcome to come along for either a full or half day.
- Full day sessions run from 9.00 AM to 4.30 PM
- A Morning session runs from 9.00 AM- 12.30 PM
- Afternoons run from 1.00 - 4.30 PM
- Evening sessions are also available during the summer months.
In a full day it is normal to play between eight and twelve games, whilst a half-day will usually involve five games.
If you come along during a weekend there will generally be other groups playing. Anything from an individual to a group of 80 can therefore be accommodated. If you choose a day when no other groups are booked in you will need at least 20 players.
Paintball is an established sport based around a strict set of safety rules. Eye protection is vital and everyone involved will wear goggles specifically designed for Paintball.
The guns fire the pellets at approximately 280 feet per second (~200 mph). When a pellet hits a person it will break open and leave a splat of paint and sometimes a bruise.
The game is played in a woodland environment - as such there will always be the potential for accidents due to trips and falls. These can be minimised by wearing suitable footwear (trainers / walking boots in the dry months and walking boots / football boots when wet).
We will provide all of the equipment you need to play the game. This includes:
Goggles
All players wear goggles if they are outside of the safe area (Neutral Zone). The goggles are purpose made for Paintball and have extra thick lenses to cope with the impact of a paint pellet. Goggles made for other applications (Motor Cross, skiing, building work ...) are not suitable as they tend to have thin lenses.
We use Scott Panorama goggles as they provide a high level of protection and a good degree of comfort. Protection is given to the eyes, ears, mouth and lower forehead.
A major problem with any set of goggles is misting up. We use a very effective anti-mist solution which if applied between every game will dramatically reduce goggles misting up. If you wear glasses we do have goggles with a larger frame to accommodate them.
Paintball Gun
A gas powered gun is used to fire the paint pellets. We use Tippmann 98, semi-automatic Paintball guns.
The guns are accurate, easy to use and can fire up to five pellets per second. A bottle of compressed gas fits onto the back of the gun. This provides sufficient power for 800 shots before needing to be refilled.
Semi-automatic means that the gun will fire a single shot every time you squeeze the trigger. There is no need to re cock the gun between shots.
A hopper fits on top of the gun. This holds up to 200 paint pellets and allows you to play most games without having to reload. The hoppers are coloured red or blue to distinguish between teams.
Overalls
Every player will be equipped with a pair of camouflage overalls. They are made from a thin material to minimise bulk and to keep you cool. Additional clothing is advisable under the overalls (e.g. T-shirt, sweat shirt and cotton trousers).
Ammo Belt
Ammo belts are available to allow you to carry additional pots of paint pellets. The belts are not essential and many players do not use them.
All players must be at least 14 years old. If you are under 16 years old you will need a letter of consent (
PDF 31k) from your parents to say they have given you permission to play. We can arrange private parties for 13 year olds if accompanied by an adult. Private parties are generally only possible midweek with a group of at least 20 people.
The cost for the Paintball is broken down into a Game Fee and Paint Pellets. The Game Fee gives each player:
- Camouflage all-in-one overalls
- Tippmann 98 Semiautomatic Paintball Gun fitted with 200 shot hopper
- Scott panorama goggles (these protect your eyes, mouth and ears)
The game fee for a half-day or full day is £10 per person.
The Paint Pellets are sold in:
- Pots of 100 pellets @ £6
- Bags of 500 pellets @ £25
As a general guide you will use approximately 500 pellets during a half-day and 900 pellets during a full day. (We do not take back pellets at the end of the day and only pellets purchased from Adventure Sports can be used.)
We sell chocolate bars and crisps throughout the day. Soft drinks are also available.
Smoke grenades are usually available @ £2 each or three for £5. These produce a big cloud of white smoke for approximately one minute. Smoke grenades are classed as fireworks and can only be sold and used by those who are 18 years old or over.
Typical games include:
Flag Capture
Teams try to capture a flag from the opponents’ base.
The Village
The team who captures the majority of the buildings wins.
Ammo Box Capture
Capture the ammunition box and take it into the oppositions’ base.
Arena Ball
A large open field filled with oil barrel barricades - capture the central flag.
Trenches
A maze of interconnecting trenches - high adrenaline close quarter action.
Sensible footwear is very important. During the winter we advise walking boots or rugby / football boots. During the summer walking boots or trainers are suitable. A good grip is essential - trainers tend to clog up with mud very quickly and prove to be very slippery in wet conditions.
Bring old clothes - they are likely to get wet, muddy and splattered with paint. The paint usually washes out but will occasionally stain. Several layers of clothing are advisable to allow you to control your body temperature.
A pair of gloves can be useful. Getting shot on your hand / finger can be painful. Many players use fingerless gloves to maintain good control of the trigger.
A change of clothes is advisable for the end of the day or bring a bin bag to sit on in your car!
We are located on the edge of Warwick, five minutes away from J15 M40.
