Safety Introduction Lesson
These 1-½ hour sessions provide all the important information required to come along and shoot at our Club Shoots, including:
- Shooting ground safety and etiquette
- Safe shotgun handling (including function, stripping and cleaning)
- Cartridges (shot sizes, gauges etc.)
- Explanation about clay shooting disciplines (Skeet, Down The Line, Sportrap and Sporting)
- Shooting technique (shooting gun up and gun down, lead and prioritising targets)
- Legislation.
- Advice on applying for a Shotgun Certificate etc.
The lesson includes the following:
- One to one tuition from a senior CPSA instruction
- 50 shots
- Tea / coffee throughout
- All equipment required (gun, hearing protection and safety glasses)
Completing the lesson to a satisfactory level will allow the participant to come along to a Club Shoot and participate, even if they do not hold a shotgun licence. This is permitted under certain conditions.
Many guests who take part in an introductory lesson will go on to become a club member at Wedgnock. Although not essential, most club members are shotgun licence holders. Applying for a licence is a relatively straightforward process taking approximately six to ten weeks to process. For full details on applying for a shotgun licence from Warwickshire police follow this link.
Joint Intro lesson
This is exactly the same as the Introduction Lesson but it is suitable for two people at a time. The session will last approximately two hours and will include 50 shots per person.
Cost £140 between the two participants
